Bathory Express visits Debrecen

Debrecen – The historical Polish minibus will visit 5 Hungarian and 10 Polish cities promoting the centuries old Polish-Hungarian friendship.

The title of the project is drawn partly from the organizer Cracovia Express Foundation (Hungarian Centre in Krakow) and partly from the international fast train of the 1960`s and 70`s. Thousands of Hungarians went to visit theatre festivals in Krakow, art exhibitions in Gdansk or Warsaw jazz concerts. The initiative not only aims to evoke memories but to enliven the centuries old friendship between the two nations and create and alternative way of opportunities for social activity.
The 3,239 km long journey will start on 6 May and will take a month. The starting point is the Polish city of Nysa the birthplace of the iconic minibus. The Niza will pass through 15 cities and reach Warsawa after a month’s journey.
The minibus will stop in Debrecen, too, where the organizers are going to collect photos, memorabilia and stories of the locals recording everything into their video diary. You can send a message by painting graffiti on the wall of the bus. Arriving to Warsawa the organizers are going to organize an exhibition using the collected relics. Young people will also organize a separate campaign for those who do not have memories, personal experience from the past of the two nations.
The Bathory Express will arrive to Debrecen on May 12 and will stay for two days. On the first day they will wait for the locals in front of the main building of the university and on the second day of their visit they will station in front of the Yellow Church in Kossuth Square.
