A 51-year-old man, who was working as a bicycle courier when he hit a woman in downtown Miskolc, was charged with the offense of negligently causing a fatal road accident.
According to the indictment, last July, the man was trying to avoid the congested line of cars when he drove onto the sidewalk, where he hit a woman exiting a doorway. The woman suffered so serious injuries that she died after being transported to hospital.
According to the announcement of the prosecution, the man hit the woman at a speed of approx. 15 km/h, without braking, who fell to the pavement and suffered a skull fracture and skull base fracture.
The man was not injured, but due to his criminal record, the prosecutor’s office proposed a prison sentence suspended for a probationary period without a trial.
