The county seat of Borsod will not spend on fireworks this year.
In a press release, the city’s municipality reported that, similar to the previous decision of several Hungarian cities, they will not hold a fireworks celebration on August 20th, the day of the founding of the state, and will instead spend the money on much more useful things.
“In today’s unpredictable situation, spending on fireworks would be an indefensible and irresponsible waste. That is why the Municipality of Miskolc MJV decided, like many other Hungarian local authorities, that there will be no fireworks this year either. The city will rather spend the amount intended for this purpose on tasks that really serve the interests of the people of Miskolc in this extremely difficult situation,” read the announcement of the city administration.
